On Saturday June 16th the Kane Bikes/ Nccycling.com team headed north to the Crystal City Classic in Arlington, VA. This was the first year for a great event sponsored by the US Air Force (with a $12,000 dollar purse). The race was on a highly technical 2000 meter circuit that featured 9 corners (including a 180 degree U turn). The race drew a good field with riders from Nerac, Rite Aid, Navigators, Colovita, Toyota United and Jelly Belly.
The Kane Bikes/ Nccycling.com team stayed relatively quite for the first 50 kilometers of the 80k race. The first half of the race saw a high tempo with only a few small moves getting a small advantage on the field. While Jon took off up the road many of the other riders just sat and looked at each other before the started to organize a chase. Jon spent three laps off the front before being joined by a quick bridging Kyle Wasmsley from the Navigator’s team. Kyle and Jon hooked up and railed the highly technical Read more
In this issue of the Mechanic’s Corner we will take a look at Hugh Moran’s spare bike. The Riders on the Kane Bikes / Nccycling.com team have the option to choose from a variety of frames styles. Many of the team members (almost 85%) choose the K Team Carbon. The K Team Carbon offers a great mix of weight, performance, and ride comfort. The front end of the bike is built from tripple butted U6 alloy. The frame tubing is specially drawn for Jack Kane Bicycles. The rear chain and seat stays are built from high modulus 3K carbon. The fusion of an alloy front triangle with a carbon rear end provides great ride comfort for riders that are often putting in 6+ hour rides. All of the team bikes are built with a low head tube height to allow the riders to achieve the proper racing position. The fork on the bike is a 1 1/8″ full carbon model that offers a deep aero profile along Read more
