Jon Hamblen won the I’ON Low County Criterium in epic fashion on Saturday. Hamblen came into the race motivated and with good legs. The field was strong with riders from Jittery Joe’s, NERAC, Hincapie/Bianchi, and Rite Aid present. The race started fast from the gun over the downtown Charleston course.  The course featured tight technical turns and even some cobbled sections. With 15 laps to go the winning break got away containing Patrick Brittain (Hearn’s- Smith Barney) and Blair Craig (Hincapie/Bianchi). The break worked well together to stay clear of the hard charging field. With a lap and a half to go Jon Hamblen attacked throught the cobbled section of the course. Jon kept on the gas throught the technical couners as he increased the gap over his two chasing breakaway companions. Jon was able to hold them off over the last lap riding solo to the victory.
